LEAP/MRT Testing for Food Sensitivities
The LEAP Program (Lifestyle, Eating and Performance) is a solution for food sensitivity-based illnesses. It utilizes Mediator Release Testing (MRT) to help individuals stop suffering from food sensitivities. When we are sensitive to certain foods, our bodies react by releasing pro-inflammatory mediators that cause symptoms. Symptoms vary from person to person and can include diarrhea or IBS, migraine headaches, muscle and joint aches, and a wide range of other symptoms. It is not uncommon for a patient to have dozens of food and chemical sensitivities, making it nearly impossible to detect a pattern of symptoms based on ingestion. In addition, symptoms can be delayed for up to 3 days. Without MRT, it’s like working in the dark.
Food sensitivities are implicated in many disease states or symptoms that can be mild or severe in nature. People often suspect food as a culprit, but have difficulty isolating the cause. MRT takes the guesswork out of it and offers a scientific approach to detecting food sensitivities. We are all genetically different and our bodies respond differently to a variety of foods. The LEAP diet is a "custom-made" eating plan, called an ImmunoCalm Diet. It has been used by people with GERD, joint pain, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, migraines, Crohn’s and Colitis, and professional and college athletes. Following the LEAP diet and protocol can give you well-balanced nutrition, optimum performance, and a healthier lifestyle.
What are food sensitivities?
There are 3 categories of diet-induced inflammatory reactions: Food Allergy, Food-Induced Autoimmune Disease, and Food Sensitivities. Of the 3, food sensitivities are the most prevalent.
Food and food-chemical sensitivities are highly complex non-allergic (non-IgE), non-celiac inflammatory reactions. They follow multiple inflammatory pathways and may be governed by either innate or adaptive immune mechanisms. They’re one of the most important sources of inflammation and symptoms across a wide range of chronic inflammatory conditions. They are also one of the most clinically challenging.
Due to their inherent clinical and immunologic complexities, as well as a lack of general knowledge within conventional medicine of their role as a source of inflammation in IBS, migraine, fibromyalgia, arthritis, GERD, obesity, metabolic syndrome, ADD/ADHD, autism, etc., food and food-chemical sensitivities remain one of the most under addressed areas of conventional medicine.
What diagnoses or symptoms does LEAP Therapy work for?
- Migraine & Other Headaches
- Irritable Bowel Syndrome
- Chronic Diarrhea, Abdominal Pain, Gas, sometimes Nausea and Vomiting
- Joint Pain, Stiffness, or Aching
- Ulcerative Colitis
- Muscle pain
- Weight imbalances
- Chronic fatigue, sleepiness
- Chronic sinusitis, sore throat, stuffy or runny nose, post nasal drip
- Skin eruptions
- Crohn's Disease
- Skin conditions: rash, dermatitis, and eczema
- Sports: the LA Clippers use LEAP to increase performance, body composition, and sleep quality; the University of Miami (FL) uses LEAP on all of their football players every year to increase their performance.
What is the MRT?
MRT stands for Mediator Release Test. MRT is the actual blood test that checks to see if your immune system has a specific response to 150 different foods, food additives, and chemicals. Mediator release is what causes the pain and inflammation in your body. So the MRT tests the live cells in your blood to see if they release any Mediators when tested against the 150 foods, additives, and chemicals. The results of the MRT are used to create a specific healthy eating plan (The LEAP ImmunoCalm diet) for you. By eliminating the foods that are causing your body to release the Mediators, the LEAP diet reduces and eliminates the symptoms in your body.
IronRoad's specially trained Certified LEAP Therapist will help you follow the LEAP Protocol, and teach you how to eat for your specific needs.

How long will it take to see results?
Most people notice a big difference in the way they feel within the first one to two weeks. For others who have been sicker for longer amounts of time, it can up to four to six weeks. Also, there are several variables that can affect the way you feel:
-How closely you follow your specific diet. If you stray from the diet, you may lose the benefits of following it closely.
-How long you’ve had your diagnosis or condition. It can sometimes take longer to repair the tissue damage that Mediators have caused.
Do I have to live around Cincinnati to be tested?
No. We can work together by telecommuting. As long as we can locate a lab to get your blood drawn, and can drop off the test at a FedEx location for overnight shipping (it’s prepaid), you can be tested, and I can assist you with your ImmunoCalm Diet plan.
